The Rookie Challenge rozgrywany w czasie NBA All-Star Weekend obok NBA All-Star Game. W meczu biorą najlepsi młodzi gracze, którzy bardzo często zapominają o obronie i mecze te kończą się zdobyczami ponad 100 punktów. Jest to także pokaz młodzieńczej, nieokiełznanej gry w ataku, kończonych efektownymi wsadami. W ostatnich latach w meczu biorą udział debiutanci (Rookies) i drugoroczniacy (Sophomores). W poprzednich latach odbywał się pojedynek pomiędzy młodymi graczami ze wschodu i zachodu lub z dowolnie wybranymi zawodnikami do dwóch zespołów.

The The T-Mobile NBA Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam is a competition held during the NBA All-Star Weekend on the Friday prior to the regular All-Star game. From 1994 until 1998, the event was called the "Rookie Game," and composed entirely of first-year players. Since the year 2000, the game has featured a team of standout first-year players ('Rookies') against a team of the leading players who are in their second season of NBA experience ('Sophomores').
